Anka Zhuravleva is a Russian photographer born in 1980 in Moscow, Russia. After losing both of her parents within a couple of years of distance, Zhuravleva’s life changed dramatically. In order to make a living while studying, she spent her earlier years taking up several different jobs in the creative industries, from music to modelling. After moving to Saint Petersburg in 2001, she experimented with oil painting and other graphic techniques, which she felt didn’t allow her to fully convey her emotions. Noticing that her inspiration often came from photos, in 2006 Zhuravleva decided to take up photography, engaging particularly with digital photo art as well as analogic film photography. Zhuravleva has since then taken part in numerous projects in the publishing industry and her work has been exhibited both locally and internationally. Currently she lives in Portugal and takes part in several projects – magazine’s publications, books and CD covers as well as international exhibitions.
