BILLY KIDD
Born in 1980, Billy Kidd is an American self-taught photographer from Panama City, Florida. He travelled the country many times before settling in Arizona. The images of the desert as well as studying on the great master of photography – such as Man Ray, Andre Kertesz, Weegee and Helen Levitt, but mostly Irving Penn –, have been fundamental to his way of seeing light and color. In 2009, Billy moved to New York and started focusing on daylight portraits – an exercise that allowed him to develop a unique ability to direct models, encouraging and allowing them to be truly expressive. Alongside his creative personal production, Kidd continues to shoot for clients such as Marc Jacobs, Yves Saint Laurent, Jean Paul Gaultier, Dom Perignon, Theory, Rag & Bone, Nike, Barneys, ERES, Mr. Porter, Vogue, W, Interview, Numero, Numero Homme, WSJ, Le Monde, Porter, Variety and more.
