JUNKO MIZUNO
Nata nel 1973 a Tokyo e oggi residente a san Francisco, Junko Mizuno è un artista e illustratrice autodidatta che ha raggiunto fama internazionale. Attiva da più di 15 anni è ormai un artista riconosciuta per la sua iconografia Gothic Kawaii dallo stile inconfondibile. Tra le influenze del suo lavoro sono altrettanto presenti la cultura giapponese anni ’70 e ’80, e le relative influenze dell’arte fetish, folkloristica, religiosa, psichedelica, pin-up e pubblicitaria, così come i riferimenti ai giocattoli d’epoca e le icone legate alla pop culture, provenienti dalla moda, il fumetto, il cibo, la natura, i film, gli spettacoli televisivi, i videogiochi. Le sue opere iconiche ed elaboratissime, sono una celebrazione del potere della donna, rappresentata da Mizuno come una divinità capace di vivacità e seduzione e al tempo stesso di energia devastante. Artista leader del movimento pop contemporaneo asiatico, Mizuno ha influenzato molti giovani artisti e Il suo lavoro è stato esposto in musei e gallerie d’arte in tutto il mondo. Born in Tokyo in 1973 and currently based in San Francisco, Junko Mizuno is a self-taught artist and illustrator acclaimed worldwide. With a 15-year-experience, she is recognized for her unique visual Gothic Kawaii iconography. Among her influences, her work is inspired by Japanese pop culture from ’70s and ’80s, with the sources of her inspiration stemming from fetish art, folk art, religious art, psychedelic art, pin-up art, advertising art, vintage toys, fashion, comic, food, nature, movies, TV shows, video games and so on. Her iconic and extremely elaborated artworks celebrate the power of women, who are represented as goddesses capable of vitality and seduction, but also conveying devastating energy. Leader of the contemporary Asian pop movement, Mizuno influenced many young artists and her work has been featured in museums and fine art galleries around the world. This is the first time she exhibits with DCG.
